Each Wednesday we take a large van full of neighborhood kids to participate in the Awana program at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles, Iowa. This program has proven beneficial to all involved. The neighborhood kids enjoy the opportunity to get out of the city and interact with the country kids in a completely different, but extremely loving and welcoming environment. The kids (and adults) have learned to accept the differences in one another’s cultures and embrace each other differences! It has been a beautiful melding!
The congregants of St. Charles Calvary Baptist prepare a meal each week to share with the Forest Ave. Outreach kids and volunteers. After the meal the kids go to age appropriate classes where they memorize Bible verses while singing, playing, and having fun!
